Orange ticket

What To Do If You Receive an Orange Defect Notice from Western Power

  1. Read the Notice Carefully
The orange ticket will explain what part of your electrical installation has been deemed unsafe or non-compliant, and the timeframe you have to fix it.

  2. Contact a Licensed Electrical Contractor
Only a licensed electrician can carry out the required inspection and repair work. Contact us promptly so we can assess the defect and provide a clear quote.

  3. Inspection and Quoting
We’ll inspect the issue (such as a damaged power pole, unsafe wiring, or faulty switchboard), explain what needs to be done, and give you a written quote for the repairs.

  4. Carry Out Repairs or Replacements
Once approved, we complete the required work using the correct equipment and methods to bring your installation up to current safety standards.

  5. Certification and Notification
After the repairs, we issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety and notify Western Power that the defect has been cleared.

  6. Final Clearance
Western Power records the clearance, ensuring your property is once again compliant and safe.

If your property has received a defect notice for a mains connection box, it usually means the connection point at the building has been damaged or become unsafe. This can happen over time due to weather exposure, corrosion, or even tree limb impact. When this occurs, Western Power will often disconnect your service for safety reasons and issue an orange defect notice.

As licensed electrical contractors, we can quickly assess and repair the fault, whether it requires replacing damaged components or restoring a safe, compliant connection. Once the work is complete, we handle the process of notifying Western Power so your service can be safely reconnected without delay.
